This is one of my favorite images from this past season. It was taken during the formals after the ceremony in the church. Is this the most technically sharp and perfect photo? Nope. Would I include it in the album. Yup. When I do an edit I’ll kick out what I don’t like or what’s technically flawed, but in my rough edit I will include these types of photos because they show the true emotion of the day and a “genuine” moment that advances the story of the wedding day. I actually changed my editing workflow after reading a book called ” Professional Wedding Photography Techniques and Image from Master Photographer” from Amherst Media. In the book Jennifer Bebb talks about their rough edit and how they are not super strict on what they keep technically if they feel the photo will advance the wedding story. After reading this I really took a second look at my editing process and the result is this type of photo being kept as a keeper. Thanks for the tip Bebb Studios
