What’s the most meaningful image of the day? I would dare say for most people it’s the group shot. Is it the most beautiful or artistic image of the day? No, but for some people the images of mom and dad with the bride, or the two brothers standing together will sometimes be the final documentation of that family before the loss of a love one. A photographer I admire very much talks about his beautiful imagery in a talk I attended and then abruptly changed direction and popped an old black and white of his family at his wedding. Not long after the wedding a fire struck the family home and destroyed all photographs that they had. The image of him with his family is the ONLY image he has left. I want to give every bride beautiful pictures, but I also want to give them something more as I will painstakingly work through formals and group shots because I remember the story of that one B&W photograph.
